If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, know that people are kind of obsessed with social media.
The sad part is that I’m not even exaggerating that much.
People are always on some kind of platform all the time. After school and DURING school, they’re either on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or something. Even people who have jobs go to social media to pass the time whether they’re working or are off work.
Social media is powerful. VERY powerful. And corporations are smart.
They’ve noticed that the best way for them to get noticed again (when the internet was just starting to gain power) is by infiltrating the internet. Mixing themselves into what we deemed fun. Nowadays it’s a little difficult to determine what’s an ad and what isn’t. It’s gotten really hard to distinguish.
Like I said, corporations are REALLY smart. And this is why you should utilise social media platforms yourself if you want your business to get somewhere. But first off, here are some tips before you go.
Identify your goals
Be specific. You won’t know what your goal is if you’re half-baked about it. Make sure that it’s attainable too. You will have your expectations but which ones are you sure will be met?
Identify your audience
Know what kind of audience you’re targeting. It pays to know. It also gives you an understanding about what kind of people you will be interacting with. And you WILL be interacting with them.
Select the BEST platforms
Not just the “best”. Select the ones that have a lot of people in it. Specifically the ones that are best-known everywhere. Facebook is internationally known and is the go-to of companies, for instance.
Employ a qualified manager
If you aren’t sure what you’re doing, then you better hire someone who DOES. Make sure this manager is very QUALIFIED and won’t just mess up your goals with their own plans or incompetence.
Deliver consistently
People like to see you be active. It makes them think that you’re there all the time and that you are very reliable. They want to see that from you. So be consistent about your stuff.
Woo some influencers
It doesn’t hurt to get someone famous (but not TOO famous) to speak for you and your business. Like some famous Instagram celebrities. They’re usually more attainable than, say, Youtubers. But you WILL be getting more of your name out there though, if you manage to woo a known Youtuber.
Grow and engage your audience
Don’t just settle with what audience you have. Grow it and get more. They’ll more likely to speak about you to their friends too if you reply to their needs and answer their questions. It doesn’t hurt to be engaging. They like to talk to PEOPLE, not company logos.
Measure your results
Sit back and see what you’ve got so far. How far are you going and how good is the business ever since you’ve started “laying waste” to some great platforms? All that good stuff. Improve and change if needed. Then lather, rinse and repeat.
